Blogs, Mini Vans and Weight Watchers

Not to blog about blogging, but why doesn’t everyone have a blog? I love blogging, there I said it. I love everything about it.

I love writing my own blog. It allows me to develop thoughts that would otherwise be swept aside. It makes me feel like a part of the adult world.

I also love reading your blogs. I love hearing about your thoughts, kids and life-related tid-bits. Plus it’s really easy to keep up with all of you. I feel like I am part of your world, without you knowing it sometimes. Technically, it’s not “stalking” if you’re the one who posts it on the world-wide-web.

Most of all I just love reading all your comments. Why is it so fun to hear what others think about what I think?…I don’t know, but it is. Admit it, you love it too. To all you that read my blog and don’t comment…..Come on, throw me a bone and just register your e-mail address or make up a fake e-mail address. It takes like less than 30 seconds. You know you have something to say….Just do it, you know you want to.

I have heard it said that blogging is a waste of time. But to that I say…yeah, partly true, but…We (Steve, Alyssa and I) spent some time reminiscing about the last year, reading about our trips, birthday’s, fun times and other thoughts. It really is a like a journal, which I have never been successful at keeping before. So is it a waste of time…No. But I don’t blog about every time I go to the store or buy a new outfit. I certainly don’t raffle off prizes for those who give great comments. I guess it could get more life-sucking if you let it.

Mini-vans. I want one. I don’t however; have enough kids to qualify to get one. I may never have enough kids to get one. Too bad. One thing I do want to put out there is; you people that think you are “cooler” because you have not succumbed to the mini but instead have opted for a SUV with a third row. (whispering tone) It’s the same thing. Yeah…you are just as un-cool as the rest of us schlepping our kids around in a van. The real difference is your kids are dinging the heck out of my Accord with your big SUV doors.

Weight Watchers. I’m back. It’s great. I love being in control again. I am okay with admitting what is. What is, is that I need some help to stay motivated to keep my food portions under control. Living in a land of plenty is hard for me. So I pay some people to stay on my case about it. It works for me. After Alyssa was born, they helped me loose over fifty pounds. Sure it cost me some cash, but I’ll tell you I made up for it by not stopping by Wendy’s and Mc D’s three times a week.

So anyway, I am back at the WW and my first week back I lost 2.2 pounds. I’ll keep you posted, just in case you don’t care.

So, to sum up. I love my blog, and yours, I want a van, and am losing weight.

I will make sure to ding the wood-paneled doors of your nerd-mobile with my giant 16-valve behemoth when I get mine and you get yours... Minivans are for nerds and nerds only... if you believe otherwise you are in the deepest stages of denial and need medical attention ASAP, or as those in the medical field (ahem) STAT!

One of the things I enjoy most about blogs is when someone (you) blogs about a topic that we (me and you) have discussed recently (case in point: minivans) and I know that I played a small part in the inspiration to your blog...

So in closing you are welcome...and stop whining about the dings in your doors.

yeah - pretty much blogging is a funny thing - but a good way to keep in touch. it's also funny how you can see people's personality and humor coming out in their blog. like with your blog - i can totally imagine you saying all this stuff and it makes me smile.

Hi, my name is Erika and I am a blog addict. Oh, and I also want a minivan. I don't go to WW, yet, but I still have a couple dozen pounds to gain before this pregnancy is over. Back to the minivan, there are only 2 types of minivans I would consider driving. I kind of look down on other minivans. Does that make me a minivan snob, or is that even possible before you own one yourself?

You know, I love my third row snobmobile. It rocks, and my husband looks cool driving it. Whereas, he would look like an idjit driving a minivan (I would still look cool driving a minivan, it is him it would affect...)
Blogs are great for keeping memories, and it fills my need for bouncing ideas off of others and getting their feedback and their ideas (that is the whole reason behind the playgroup, by the way). And way to go on Weight Watchers. You rock

I am hoping for a five door Volvo...that's what Skyler envisioned his wife driving (only enough room for three kids though). Three kids doesn't quite live up to Utah standards, but it's passable for California. Can't wait for you guys to come here! New ride at DCA!

Oh Kristin--I love that you hit the blog comment thing spot-on! I was thinking about that very thing the other day and seriously wondering WHY I cared what other people think about what I think?! I am glad I am not the only one :) And I think everyone should have a blog too--why don't they yet?

i read your blog but i'm not going to comment on it.

Mini van's are just fine as long as they are out of the way of my
18" Goodyear Wangler "Guns" on my 4Runner! My brother-in-law James just bought a mini-van, he likes it, He says the functionality of the mini-van is awsome. I say "dude, you have lost your mind." The mini-van is a Nissan Quest, I like to think of it as something that fell out of a Star Trek movie set and got made into a mini-van. Sad huh. Your blog is just a great way to get a quick laugh and say hi.

We have some neighbors that just bought a minivan for their two kids. Why would anyone want to go down that road even a day before they have to?

I LOVE my mini-van and we bought it before we found out that we were pregnant with Max- I am a minivan addict! Congrats on 2.2 lbs! That is awesome- Ihave debated joining WW again. I was on it when I got pregnant with Max. I love blogs also but one thing you didn't mention is I also love to read the comments on other people's blogs. I love to see who thinks the same way I do and who doesn't and then I check out their blog. Now you know!

Heather said...

Ok...I guess I can comment on your blog! (I love it when people comment on mine, I just don't often comment on other people's blogs...strange!) Anyway, this is Misty and Dan's sister Heather. I found your blog through hers and I love reading it. You're so fun! And have such adorable little kids. Congrats on your newest...that's awesome!

And congrats on the Weight Watchers! That's great...! I'm proud of you. Way to go!

I am glad you love your blog. I love reading your blog. I must say, I don't want a van... or an SUV... I love my little sedan. I plan to drive it for as long as I possibly can... Am I just trying to avoid looking like the mom-of-more-than-one that I truelly am? I can't decide.

I have to admit I too love blogging, reading other people's blogs and getting comments. I linked to your page from your comment on my page. (I am Angela’s friend Lindsay) I am the friend that showed her where her computer was & how easy it is to put words into a post. I don't understand what has taken her so long because she does have a lot of pent up funny in her & I know she has many more funny stories that she needs to write about. Anyway, I thought I better leave a comment since I stopped in and read your post (which I thoroughly enjoyed. Blogs RULE! Mini Vans Rock! & GO Weight Watchers!!)

Whenever I hear a guy say that he likes driving a minivan, I'm reminded of the time that comes in every man's life when he tries on dress pants with the elastic waist band and says, "I could wear these; these are pretty comfortable."

It's at that moment a man gives up his last shred of dignity.

Kristin, thanks for being so nice about my maiden voyage in blogdom. I love it. Brad loves it probably even more than I do.

You are the coolest of the cool--despite the van-coveting issues...Who is this Dan person and why is he reading my mind?

I too admit to feeling a tinge of sympathy for a manhood lost when I see a male at the helm of a van. Although that is my issue and I have to remind myself that I drive a station wagon. I wonder which one is located deeper into the Nerd Forest...van or station wagon?

i agree i also love reading comments. I enjoy reading your blog. I also like mini vans i think they are very roomy and great for gas. I tried to talk trav into getting one but he wouldn't go for it, but i would have.

Kristin, this is Kjersty. I just wanted to let you know that I have now made my blog public like you wanted. I have added all the cousins from your page that I know of. My link is intomynoggin.blogspot.com

wow, I don't think you get enough comments on your blogs. I felt so bad I thought I better add my 2 cents. :)
I don't think I like minivans (say that in the voice like the annoying little girl in the pediasure commercial "I don't think I like waffles") I have come to the realization though that if I even entertain the thought of having more kids, I will need something bigger that can hold us all. I believe the world frowns on children riding on the roof of the car. Too bad though, I think my boys would like it.

kristin, is this how you do it? i don't blog b/c i have BSP (blog stalker paranoia) as well as BCSP (blog commenting stalker paranoia).

but i love your blog.

okay, i better hurry and get off . . . i think someone is stalking me.

I don't know if this will get read....I read blogs very little, or to say I read your blog very little, which is a great deal more than I read anyone else's blog, which is never....do you follow? Anyway when I do read it I catch up so here I am catching up and leaving a comment even though this topic seems to be well commented on. I just wanted to say that in church Sunday the topic was turning the hearts of the children to the father's and the hearts of the father's to the children or whatever and I went to a "mini lesson" (don't ask it's confusing) on journal keeping and they said that blogging was a great new way to journal and keep family close. Cousins who live far can see their cousins growing and chnaging like they are. You know I'm not into the blog scene (though I don't hate blogs and bloggers as my husband seems to assume) but props to you bloggers for keeping everyone informed on everything new in the family heard about. Personally I enjoy the topics of Yogurt, Coke, and Minivans more interesting.

How about a van/suv crossover? I really want a Dodge Journey and I'm mad they came out right after we bought our Dodge Caliber. Why does that always happen?
