Me, an Internet Sensation!

You all knew I would be famous someday, right? Well…That day has come. I have made my YouTube debut.

Part I:

Part II:

Missy and I have created our own internet talk show. We cover important topics delving into our world comically discussing important issues relevant to women and moms everywhere. Subject matter includes an in depth discussion of the general happenings in phase “I”. A recapping of American Idol and other reality based shows and guests providing demonstrations including fashion, cooking, and other homemaking projects etc as well and generalized chats.

I hope you’ll take a few minutes and check it out. We had a really great time doing it. Embarrassing for us you ask? No. You only live once. May as well make the most of it.

We’re too old to be on American Idol at this point so the way I see it is, this is our last shot at fame. Watch it and tell your friends. If you are interested in making an appearance on the show, just let me know.

The true meaning of Valentimes Day, open season chocolate

We love Valentime’s Day at our house. Sharing and celebrating love. Being with the ones we love the most, and in Alyssa’s case eating chocolate without limits.

Since we knew how much Alyssa loves chocolate we got her the smallest heart shaped box of chocolates we could find at the store. As you can see, it was a real hit. She took one bite of each and went around the box. I don’t think she finished a single one, but she enjoyed each bite of them in their own right.

Sunny sure looked cute in her Valentimes outfit. However she is not enjoying chocolate or any food at all this weekend. She refuses to eat from her high chair. She prefers only to scavenge. Steve suggested we just scatter what we would like to have her to eat right on the linoleum and or carpet to see if she would be more interested then, in eating it. Her favorite foods this weekend so far are carpet fibers, pieces of shredded tissue and wrappers. Yum.

Sugar Cookies, My Specialty!

Well, here's another great batch of Sugar Cookies out of my kitchen. Anyone want to book me for a catering gig?

See, this is what happens when I follow directions on a recipe. Other people make such lovely-looking, tasty, sugar cookies. Not me though. I can't even make out what shape these are supposed to be. It's Valentines Day, so you'd think they'd be hearts, but no. Blobs.

Nothing says I love you like an over done, super thin, triangular shaped, Valentine sugar cookie blob.

You can't say I never told you

Have you ever wanted to or intended to get prepared for an emergency or start gathering food storage but you didn’t know how or where to start? Me too.

Thanks to my sister-in-law Leslie, now I know how and where. In fact, I have started and I am getting somewhere with it. Leslie introduced me to a great website called Foodstoragemadeeasy.NET (not dot com).

It, for me, has been the missing link between thinking about it and ACTUALLY doing something about it.

This weekend I followed the recommendations of the site and put an emergency plan together for our family. Included in the emergency plan was putting together 72 hour food kits. I actually did that. Can you believe it? I did it. It really wasn’t hard. The site tells you exactly what and how much of each thing to put in each kit. I did make some substitutions because some of the foods it recommends, I would rather not eat, so I just substituted something similar.

We (each family member) have our own individual kits as we have different needs. Each kit is contained in it’s own new Jansport backback which I bought at VF for 4 bucks. They have cheap backpacks there.

It wasn’t real hard to do. We already had about half of the recommended foods in the pantry. The stuff we didn’t have I just put on the shopping list and we bought it this weekend.

It took a couple of days and a little effort but it’s totally done now. It was easy to keep track of what I had and what I needed thanks to the checklist I printed from the website.

The emergency preparedness also includes other vital information you would need if you ever needed to evacuate. It recommends you make a binder with copies all your important documents (it tells you which ones to put in there).

Anyway, you should not only look at this site, but follow it’s recommendations because if an emergency situation ever arrived, I would not share my resources with you. Sorry, but they are for my family and we only have enough for us. “It becometh every man who hath been warned to warn his neighbor (blog friends).” It does not say I have to share what I have prepared. Get your own and do it like…right away.

Supdate, nine months

Well she’s nine months now and always changing.

She’s a good happy little girl, but she needs things to be a certain way. She takes it personally if you turn your back on her and walk away. The other night, Steve was home with the girls while I was at a meeting and he reported that each and every time he walked away she got hysterical. He demonstrated her hysteria (not that he needed to, I’m very familiar with it) by turning around in circles in front over her. Sure enough, each time he had his back to her she’d freak out and cry, when he faced her she was fine, back turn cry, face her happy. He did this for like 30 seconds. It was so funny to watch.

She loves having the ability to stand now. We hardly ever see her not standing next to something. Her favorite place to pull herself up to is the family room window sill. She can just barely see out the window and seems to really enjoy the view.

She loves music and dancing. Every time she hears music she sways back forth. She just loves to rock out. I was at the store the other day, not paying much attention to her and the lady behind me pulled me aside to tell me how cute she was dancing to the music.

She started mimicking the chorister in RS on Sunday. The chorister noticed what she was doing and it made her smile. Sunny was so thrilled to see her smiling at her that she started to sing too. So cute.

Her main form of verbal communication is growling. She growls and growls just like a pit-bull. She loves it when you growl back at her too. If you growl at her she’ll go into this fake cough/choke sound. It’s scary actually, but it is her favorite thing to do.

She adores her sister. She still clamors for any attention Alyssa will give her. At night time I take her into Alyssa’s room so she and daddy can give her a kiss good night. Her little face just lights up when she gets her kiss from sister and her dad, whom she is in love with. It’s really touching to see.

She is not really that dependable of a napper. Sometimes she’ll do it and sometimes she won’t. No schedule for her, it only happens on her terms. But she sleeps great at night so I am not complaining.

Good Pizza Anyone?

For those of you who don’t already know this…I take Pizza very seriously.

After living a little stint in Upstate New York, I learned about REAL pizza. Before I lived there I didn’t even know I hadn’t had real Pizza before. Not that there is anything wrong with Domino’s or Little Sleasers, but there isn’t much right with it either.

In my first area, I wanted to have pizza. My companion, Comp, told me she wouldn’t eat it unless it was New York Pizza. I wanted Domino’s because that is what I was used to. Little did I know…she would change my life forever. Thanks Jaime!

Ever since then I consider myself a pizza conteseur. Living here, good Pizza is hard to come by. I have tried many different places that claim to be New York Style, thin crust pizza, only to be disappointed time and time again.

I found one place we absolutely, positively love! Its called Nevole’s. Located at 11400 South and State, in the Best Buy parking lot. It’s kind-of close, and while it isn’t cheap, five dollar hot and ready, the price-value, for what you're getting,is just right.

Their thin crust is so thin it’s like pizza on a wheat thin cracker, it’s that thin. You might be thinking, “I wouldn’t like pizza that thin.” You’d be dead wrong though, because that is the way pizza was intended to be and you would like it, in fact you’d love it.

Not only is their pizza fantastic, but the ambience and service is great too.As you can see from the pictures, they have great big booths that can fit at least 3 adults on each side. Or in our case they can fit one adult and one sleeping child.

Each table has an entire roll of paper towels for dirty fingers and kiddies faces, very convenient.

They sell pizza by the slice, 1.33 per slice to be exact or by the pie. They are small slices, but at that price how big do you really expect them to be? We buy four slices, each. That is the perfect amount. Not too much, but enough you don’t need more to be satisfied.

From 11-2 each day they have a buffet where you can get any kind of slices you want. Now you should know, I only like pizza the way it was intended to be, with pepperoni and sauce and cheese, nothing else. However since all the pepperoni was gone from the buffet for a moment I decided to branch out and try chicken and jalapeƱo pizza. I had really low expectations, but holy cow! It was delicious-O! I had two of that flavor. Crazy good!

Alyssa thinks it is Chef Bisketti’s place. The chef from Curious George. She is always happy to go there to support her favorite PBS Kids shows.

Another great thing about Nevole’s is the restrooms.
See for yourself from the pics here. The restroom was rad! I mean look at that sink, how cool is that? It’s worth going there just to see the restroom.

Anyway…just wanted to let you know, Nevole’s is my four-star pizzeria in town. If you haven’t had good New York Pizza before, you should go there. If you have had it, you should still go there.
