Sugar Cookies, My Specialty!

Well, here's another great batch of Sugar Cookies out of my kitchen. Anyone want to book me for a catering gig?

See, this is what happens when I follow directions on a recipe. Other people make such lovely-looking, tasty, sugar cookies. Not me though. I can't even make out what shape these are supposed to be. It's Valentines Day, so you'd think they'd be hearts, but no. Blobs.

Nothing says I love you like an over done, super thin, triangular shaped, Valentine sugar cookie blob.

Do you want my recipe? It is from Russ' mom and it is great! A tip I learned is to refrigerate the dough. Cold dough works so much better to keep the cookies shape.

It was cold! I refridgerated it overnight.

Some tips I learned from my mother-in-law, whom my dear hubbie for a number of years told me that I didn't make this or that like she did. I've learned to let it go and he's learned not to say that anymore!!

Anyways, back to the tips.
1- Don't roll them out to less than 1/4" thick, they aren't like chocolate chip cookies that rise more.
2- I don't refrigerate the dough with her recipe.
3- Do not use cream of tarter or baking soda...find a different recipe if yours has either of these in it. Baking powder is much better for sugar cookies.

Maybe that will help...I too would be willing to share the recipe if you'd like.

Yeah, nothing says I love you like that.

You should do what I do, I who have inherited my mother's inability to make cookies in any shape, form, recipe, etc. Just buy a pack of ready made dough from the store. Hello! *slaps her forehead* A pack of dough from the store!

That isn't overdone. Mine were overdone! I should have brought some of my really well done cookies to show off and make you feel better about your blobs. Mine were heart shaped, black, but heart shaped.

You do make fabulous pink cinnamon frosting, if that makes you feel better. It really doesn't matter what shape the cookies are, or how good they taste with a good amount of that frosting on them.

i cant make them either.
but, boy, i can eat them!
if you put enough frosting on something-you can eat it.

My darling friend...I would love to give you my friend Cindy's sugar cookie recipe...they do make the best cookies in the world! The secret...Cake Flour...go figure. You can make them with regular flour and they are a little more dense, but delicious.

I would love to see your recipe...it seems as if there wasn't enough flour added...to much liquid.

You are loved and you get an A+ for baking cookies! I didn't this year and the Maddy was MAD!

It looks to me like you just had your holidays mixed up! Once you get the white and blue frosting on them, your ghosts are gonna look CUTE! Planning early for Halloween, I like the way you think! ;)

You know what else? Ghosts ARE thin! I'm starting to think you planned this.
