Remembering Overalls

Ralls. We all wore them. Some of us more than others. At their height I had 14 pair that I regularly wore. I loved them. I felt good in them. I felt feminine in them. I had a really cute pair or Short-ralls from Old Navy that I particularly loved and wore frequently. I now have zero pairs of overalls.

What happened? Did it turn out that they are not cute like we all thought they were? And more specifically what happened to the 14 pair I used to own. I don't remember getting rid of them at least not all 14 pairs of them.

Something happened to my cache of clothes while I was on a mission. Maybe some of you have them and are still loving them. Maybe my mom got to them and threw them out while I was gone. Maybe I lost them all. Maybe some of my several dozen roommates I have lived with over the years each took a pair and are loving them still today.

Either way...overalls. Let's take a moment and fondly remember them.

I can't see my belly button

I can't see my belly button. I know sometimes pregnant ladies lose site of their feet, but I can't even see my belly button. I can feel it, I know it's still there. Is that normal?

Changes

For some reason things seem to be continually changing around our house. Today the changes centered around moving all the kiddie furniture into a new place.

Everything that was once Alyssa's is now going to be baby sisters. Alyssa got a new big-girl bed (my old twin sized bed pre-marriage) (which she is currently sleeping in, with out incident by the way) and a new dresser from IKEA.

It's kind of nice that she is progressing to larger furniture considering that she sleeps with about 9 different stuffed animals. It was getting pretty crowded in her transformed crib/toddler bed.

We thought it might be traumatic for her to make the switch, but so far it hasn't been. A nice surprise.

Trying to Feed a Two-Year-Old

So, Kristin went to city council last week and I watched Alyssa like I always do. I tried to feed her dinner. But she wasn't interested in eating. She said "No" to peanut butter, soup, noodles, macaroni and cheese. So finally, I tried to feed her a cheese sandwich. She appeared to eat it and asked for some potato chips; of course, I obliged.

I must not have been paying attention because this is what she did with her food.

Then, in desperation, I cut up an apple for her--which she proceedd to shred. I don't think Kristin believed me that Alyssa really did this of her own volition.

Who wore it best?

Who says that being seven-and-a-half months pregnant has to limit your fashionability in any way?

I have to tell you...Me in these totally radical hot pink tights give my friend Elise here a real run for her money. I mean, just because she is the real-deal,cool-beautiful California urban woman living an urban life in the OC with her super cool husband Skyler doesn't mean that shotty immitations by pregnant women living in suburban Salt Lake county aren't worth a try, but YOU be the judge.

I ask you....Who wore it best?

Don't let this influence your decision at all--but the seven-year-old girls in my primary class were unanimous that my tights WERE cool.

The ah-quarium

So we bought a membership to our local aquarium for our family. For a year it cost us exactly $26 for the family, and let's just say we are getting our money's worth. We have been basically every Saturday since, plus a few weekdays as play dates. We knew we would enjoy going back, having a free family destination and activity, but we didn't count on it becoming such a lifestyle for our daughter.

Alyssa has now become quite obsessed with sea-life. I guess our frequency of visits to the fish palace have led her to this. She wakes up and tells me that she has dreamt about Sea Turtles. She tells me she wants to swim like a fish, then gets on her belly to show me how she'd do it. "I want to go beach. I want to catch a wave. I want to wear my sun-hat. I want umbrella. I want to wear swimsuit. I want to play in water. I want go ocean." She actually told me all this the other night in one breath. I guess it was everything she could remember about our August 07 trip to Huntington Beach. She has an amazing memory for a two-year-old.

She would watch Finding Nemo everyday if I'd permit it. All her favorite books are about fish. She still lulls herself to sleep every night with her crib aquarium. I'm pretty sure she'll pack that thing when she moves away to college.

Some kids are obsessed with trains. Ours loves sea-life.
