Steve bought me an exciting travel book for my birthday. It’s called 60 Hikes in 60 miles. It contains 60 hikes in and around SLC. Hiking is my newest obsession.

I fully intend to do each and every hike in the book. The 60 hikes are in preparation for a future expedition we are planning sometime in the next 10 years. We are planning a hiking trip on the Haute route in the Swiss/French/Italian Alps. Steve and I saw a travel show on it last October and we were and still are fascinated by the Alps and this route through it.

I have very fond memories of hiking Doughnut Falls in my teenage years. Steve and I also did this little hike last winter with our snow shoes. We decided to see what our kids are made of. They have never hiked before and were very excited to see a forest.


We put them in their light-up GYM SHOES and headed up the canyon. We hopped out of the car sprayed down with bug spray and headed up the trail.

The kids were excited to see every tree stump and the minerals (rocks).
They kept up surprisingly well, and didn’t complain at all.

They loved seeing all the wild berries.
They were bummed that we wouldn’t let them eat some.


It is a short little hike that goes over a few little streams which the girls were fascinated with.


At the end it opens up to a cascading waterfall.
The water falls through a hole in a rock (thus the Doughnut). We didn’t actually get to see this part because of the crowd we came with. It was a little treacherous for children to get to that part.


After we were satisfied with our time at the top we turned around and basically ran back to the bottom. It was really fun. The girls giggled all the way down.

We had a great time though. It was more fun than we had even hoped.

After our hike we took the senic route home.
We saw some incredible clouds making unbelivable pictures in the Sky. It was an unbelievably beautiful night. We also drove the girls through Utah's fanciest restaurant, LaCille. It was incredible. Alyssa said she wanted to get married here, so we have already started saving our money.
